When Craig Van Den Brulle opened Capitol Furnishings in the Nolita section of New York City in 1997, he had already developed the "urban clean" design philosophy that quickly made Capitol a shopping destination for influential architects, interior designers and collectors. Featured designers include Barovier, James Mont, Robsjohn-Gibbings, Gio Ponti, Seguso, Venini and Tommi Parzinger. Now Van Den Brulle is building on this tradition of simple, clean, timeless design with the introduction of The VAN DEN BRULLE COLLECTION - an 11 piece line of lamps, tables, and home essentials crafted from lucite. The first of his signature collections, this hand-finished and one-of-a-kind line is the essence of understated elegance, combining Van Den Brulle's passion for beauty with an insistence on fine craftsmanship and high quality.

Paul Vetrano, supplies the chairs for about 40 percent of Manhattan's restaurants, in the showroom of his business, New York Chair Co. in Manhattan. Whatever the cuisine, restaurant supplier Paul Vetrano has the seat to match. Everyone opening a restaurant these days hopes to emulate the runway success if the perpetually packed Balthazar in Soho, right down to the retro brasserie's signature stool: a clubby wine colored padded vinyl cushion with brass nailheads astride a mahogany frame. ItÕs the hot new trendsetter stool. Everybody wants it, says Paul Vetrano. He should know Vetrano sells chairs and stools to 40 percent of New York City's 10,000 eateries and many outside of the city, from dumpy diners and Asian noodle houses to sleek coffee bars and posh French brasserie's. While a chair may not be the focal point of the restaurant, says Vetrano, it's rolled in the overall dinning experience cannot be under estimated.

In August 1893, John Willis, Jr. opened his first furniture store on Church Street, opposite St. Paul's church in downtown Norfolk. In 1901, he moved to the comer of Main and Church Streets in Norfolk in the Purcell Building that had been a hotel at one time. In 1912, he was the first occupant of the Mastin Building, later to become Smith and Welton Department Store.

It all started in 1936 by Martha and Samuel Gorin. They opened an upholstery shop at 81 Franklin Street in downtown Norwich, known then as the Colonial Upholstery Company. They eventually expanded and became the Colonial Upholstery and Bedding Company. As the years passed, they grew, taking over the four floors of 81 through 87 Franklin Street and renamed the company to the Colonial Upholstery and Furniture Company.
