The Cranbury Historical and Preservation Society was organized in 1967 and incorporated on November 17, 1970. It is governed by an Executive Board, composed of officers, trustees and committee chairpersons.
Its museum was originally built in 1834 by Dr. Garret P. Voorhees, with additional rooms added added from 1850 to 1862 by the Isaac Snedeker Family. The Historical Society acquired the house in May, 1972 and volunteers transformed it in six months from a simple house into a museum.
The many original architectural elements, (including window sashes with early glass, wide pine floor boards, original paint), its collections of 18th and 19th century furnishings, Indian artifacts, and local memorabilia, radiate a sense of Cranbury past. Follow on Twitter: @cranburyhistory

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art, home to the largest and most comprehensive collection of Southern art in the world, and a unique and innovative destination to "See the South."

One of the most overlooked eras of art is the European 19th to early 20th century works of such artists as Alma-Tadema, Barye, Leighton, Merson, Navez, Picou, Troyon, and Vernet. The Dahesh Museum of Art was opened with the sole principle of bringing these incredible pieces of art to life. The California State Military Museum is located at 1119 Second Street in the Old Sacramento State Historical Park. It is only a few minutes walk from the State Capital, The California State Railroad Museum and several other fine museums, parks, and tourist attractions. The museum, opened by Governor Pete Wilson in 1991, is the official military museum and historical research center of the State of California. This was reinforced on 11 September 2002 when Governor Gray Davis signed legislation making the museum a permanent museum under the California State Military Department and providing permanent funding for the museum. Finally on 13 July 2004, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation to amend the Government Code to make the museum the state's official military museum.

The museum itself is rich in activities, as visitors can do just about anything involving farm life. From the late 1800's through the 1940's the rugged steam locomotives of the Ulster & Delaware; Catskill Mountain Railroad; New York Central; New York, Ontario & Western; and Delaware & Northern climbed their steep and winding mountain grades bound for the grand hotels and humble boarding houses of the Catskills Mountains. They returned with lumber, bluestone, dairy and agricultural products of the region for transport to the New York City metropolitan area. ESRM is dedicated to bringing alive the history of these railroads, their people and the towns they served, to the residents and visitors of the Catskill Mountains and the greater Hudson Valley.

Manuscripts from the Bodleian Libraries. September 14, 2012 - February 3, 2013. Crossing Borders features a superb selection of over fifty Hebrew, Latin, and Arabic manuscripts from the University of Oxford’s Bodleian Libraries, one of the world’s richest collections of manuscripts and printed books related to medieval European Jewish culture. The manuscripts, many of them exquisitely illuminated, illustrate the fertile exchanges among Christians, Muslims, and Jews in the fields of religion, art, science, and literature. Included is one of the Bodleian's greatest treasures: the magnificent Kennicott Bible. Many of the works in the exhibition are on view in the United States for the first time.
For thousands of years, the Jewish heritage has helped shape the world’s societies and changed the landscape of art, literature and culture. The Jewish Museum located in Manhattan has been built exclusively to take visitors on a journey across the world and through time. Housed within the illustrious Warburg mansion on New York’s famous Museum Mile, the Jewish Museum comprises over 27,000 separate items all dedicated to the Jewish culture from hundreds of years old pressings and paintings to the most recent digital and video displays. O Museu do Açude situa-se na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, no coração da Floresta da Tijuca, numa área de 150 mil metros quadrados e tem o propósito de relacionar o patrimônio cultural ao natural. Sua sede no estilo neocolonial, cercada pela mata atlântica é a antiga residência de verão de Raymundo Ottoni de Castro Maya (1894-1968). Apresenta coleção de azulejos, painéis franceses, holandeses, espanhóis e portugueses dos séculos XVII ao XIX. Louça do Porto, fabricada a partir do século XIX em Portugal, além de exemplares raros de escultura chinesa, indiana e porcelanas de procedências diversas. O Museu ganhou destaque por ser o cenário externo da mansão da viúva Porcina, vivida pela atriz Regina Duarte na novela Roque Santeiro.

O Instituto Ciência Hoje (ICH) é uma organização social de interesse público sem fins lucrativos vinculada à Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência (SBPC).
O site Ciência Hoje On-line é uma iniciativa pioneira de divulgação científica na internet brasileira. Além de disponibilizar parte do conteúdo das publicações do ICH, o site publica notícias exclusivas atualizadas diariamente que oferecem ao leitor uma cobertura dinâmica da atualidade científica no Brasil e no mundo.
Em 2007, foi lançado, em parceria com o Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas, o livro Física Hoje - Uma aventura pela natureza: dos átomos ao universo, que reúne 11 artigos escritos por renomados pesquisadores brasileiros e originalmente publicados na revista Ciência Hoje ao longo de 2005, em comemoração ao Ano Mundial da Física.
O ICH atua também na divulgação científica em meios audiovisuais: o Instituto promoveu a realização do programa de televisão Tome Ciência, uma série semanal que abordou de forma acessível temas de ciência e tecnologia.. Em outubro de 2004, o ICH se uniu à Rede Globo na campanha Ciência Vale a Pena.

O Museu Casa de Portinari foi instalado e inaugurado em 14 de março de 1970, constituindo-se de uma casa principal, dois anexos e uma capela.
A sua entidade mantenedora é a Secretaria de Estado da Cultura, estando especificamente vinculado ao DEMA - Departamento de Museus e Arquivos da referida Secretaria.
A inclusão do Museu Casa de Portinari na Rede de Museus da Secretaria da Cultura do Estado deu-se através do Decreto de 08 de abril de 1970.

Empresário bem-sucedido, Raymundo Ottoni de Castro Maya (1894-1968) soube conciliar atividades empresariais muito bem sucedidas com as de realização de projetos culturais. A sua atividade como colecionador que nos legou os registros materiais desse esforço. O apoio a valores artísticos nacionais e a busca do acesso público às suas coleções tornavam-no um tipo de mecenas moderno e urbano, comprometido com a cidade em que vivia É igualmente importante destacar a sua participação na fundação do Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro, em 1948, do qual foi o primeiro presidente.

Uma parte significativa da memória do Estado de Goiás pode ser encontrada no Museu Ferroviário, localizado em Pires do Rio, a 142 quilômetros de Goiânia. Criado em 1988 pelo historiador, escritor, poeta e professor piresino Jacy Siqueira, ele retrata um pouco da história da formação das cidades da região da estrada de ferro.
O museu está instalado em um prédio da década de 40, onde funcionava a oficina mecânica das locomotivas a vapor da estrada de ferro Goyaz. Ocupa uma área de 80 mil metros quadrados e é tombado pelo patrimônio histórico e artístico do município e do Estado de Goiás. "A cidade surgiu com a chegada do trem. O museu é um bem importantíssimo para Pires do Rio, pois preserva a memória de um período de intensa atividade cultural e é referência para a população nos dias de hoje", afirma a diretora do espaço, Ercy Saud.

O Museu da Casa Brasileira guarda e conserva objetos, móveis e equipamentos de várias épocas da história da moradia no Brasil. Construído entre 1942 e 1945, o antigo Solar Prado, implantado em um terreno de aproximadamente 15.000 m², é uma réplica do Palácio Imperial de Petrópolis, no Rio de Janeiro. O Museu é um importante núcleo de pesquisa, discussão de arquitetura e design. Sua biblioteca foi organizada e formaram-se uma vioteca e um acervo de documentação contemporânea brasileira e internacional.

Criado em 1993, com recursos do programa de investimentos estratégicos do governo do estado de Santa Catarina, com a permanente participação do IPHAN, o Museu Nacional do Mar nasceu com a revitalização dos grandes armazéns da empresa Hoepcke, abandonados há mais de vinte anos. O local, que abriga grande diversidade de embarcações brasileiras foi revitalizado entre 2003 e 2004.

Em 1991, o Prefeito Hugo Rodrigues Cunha iniciou um projeto de restauração do prédio da estação e outras dependências em ruína, para instalar o "Centro de Pesquisas Paleontológicas Llewellyn Ivor Price". Preservadas suas características originais, a antiga estação, hoje restaurada, abriga um laboratório de preparação de fósseis e um atraente museu paleontológico, aberto à visitação pública. Dois outros imóveis foram transformados em residências para hospedar pesquisadores.

O Museu de Zoologia faz estudos sobre animais, especialmente sobre a fauna da Região Neotropical, que abrange a América do Sul e a América Central.
As pesquisas zoológicas são feitas principalmente nas áreas de taxonomia, sistemática, evolução e biogeografia e baseiam-se nas grandes coleções de animais, hoje com cerca de 8 milhões de exemplares conservados em meio líquido ou a seco.
Além das coleções, o Museu também é responsável pela Estação Biológica de Boracéia, uma reserva de Mata Atlântica, situado no municípío de Salesópolis, estado de São Paulo.

Inaugurado em 22 de abril de 1999, o Eco-Museu da Ilha da Pólvora. faz uma leitura e apresenta uma exposição sobre a história natural do estuário do Rio Grande. A Ilha da Pólvora, patrimônio do Exército Brasileiro localiza-se no estuário da Laguna dos Patos e possui 42 hectares de marismas, que são áreas periodicamente alagadas pela maré e servem de habitat para várias espécies de aves, roedores, moluscos, crustáceos, larvas e juvenis de peixes. Essas marismas estão bem preservadas e, por isso, são utilizadas com objetivos educacionais e científicos. Neste museu também são desenvolvidos diversos trabalhos científicos de graduação e pós-graduação, dentre os quais se destacam estudos sobre a vegetação, crustáceos, aves e roedores.

The DOCKYARD MUSEUM in the Naval Officer's House interprets the story of English Harbour and of the people that toiled in this famous Georgian Royal Naval Yard. It also explains the 20th century return of sailing ships and the aims and aspirations of Nelson's Dockyard National Park. There is also a small "Nelson's Room" with a life sized portrait of Nelson researched through archaeological means.
