The Circle in the Square Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 235 West 50th Street in midtown Manhattan.
Designed by architect Alan Sayles, it is one of two theatres occupying the underground levels of Paramount Plaza, which was constructed as the Uris Building on the site of the famed Capitol Theater movie house. It originally served as the uptown home to the Circle-in-the-Square repertory company founded by Theodore Mann and Jose Quintero in 1961 in Greenwich Village. The first production, a revival of Mourning Becomes Electra, opened on November 15, 1972.
The rather small auditorium has a seating capacity of 650. It is one of only two Broadway houses with a thrust stage (the other is Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theatre).
The building also houses the Circle in the Square Theatre School, the only accredited training conservatory associated with a Broadway theatre, which offers a two-year training program in acting. Source

Um galpão da CEHAB-RJ deu lugar às artes. A mobilização da comunidade local garantiu a permanência do imóvel, sua transformação em teatro e seu funcionamento. A partir de 19 de julho de 1990, o espaço passou a ser administrado pela Funarj.
Seu patrono teve uma vida marcada pela atuação política em favor de sua categoria. Mário Lago nasceu no Rio de Janeiro, em 26 de novembro de 1911. Aos 15 anos teve seu primeiro poema publicado na imprensa carioca. Formado em Direito, praticamente não exerceu a profissão, preferindo escrever textos para o teatro de revista.
Nos anos 40, se tornou um dos mais renomados galãs do teatro de comédia brasileiro. Faleceu em 30 de maio de 2002. Em 26 de dezembro de 2006, o Governo do Estado o homenageou substituindo o antigo nome do teatro de Vila Kennedy, Faria Lima, pelo nome do artista.

Situado a doze metros abaixo da superfície terrestre. Foi inaugurado no dia 3 de setembro de 2001, após dez anos de obras e escavações no quarto e quinto subsolos de um edifício, no bairro do Sumaré. Seu nome vem da sua localização subterrânea e é, também, uma homenagem ao espetáculo Viagem ao Centro da Terra realizado, em 1992, pela Kompanhia Teatro Multimidia de São Paulo.
Além da sala de apresentações equipada para atender um público de cem pessoas, o Centro da Terra ocupa os quatro andares superiores do edifício com salas de ensaios e atividades diversas dos seus núcleos de pesquisa (interpretação, dramaturgia e montagem). The Vivian Beaumont Theater is a theater in New York City in the United States. It is located at Lincoln Center, 150 W. 65th Street, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It was designed by the renowned Finnish American architect Eero Saarinen. Although it was built for the presentation of plays such as those produced on Broadway, it differs from traditional Broadway theaters because of its amphitheater configuration and thrust stage. The building includes two auditoriums, the 1,080-seat Vivian Beaumont Theater and the 299-seat Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (called The Forum until 1973). The Beaumont is considered a fairly large theater for dramatic plays and a medium-size theater for musicals. It is New York's only Broadway-class theater (eligible for Tony Awards) that is not located in the Theater District near Times Square. Source

The Belasco Theatre is a legitmate Broadway theatre located at 111 West 44th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect George Keister for impresario David Belasco, the interior featured Tiffany lighting and ceiling panels, rich woodwork and expansive murals, and a ten-room duplex penthouse apartment that Belasco utilized as combination living quarters/office space.
Technically it was outfitted with the most advanced stagecraft tools available, including extensive lighting rigs, a hydraulics system, and vast wing and fly space.
It opened as the Stuyvesant Theatre on October 16, 1907 with the musical A Grand Army Man with Antoinette Perry. Three years later Belasco attached his own name to the venue. After his death in 1931, it was leased first by actress Katharine Cornell and then playwright Elmer Rice. The Shuberts bought it in 1949 and leased it to NBC for three years before returning it to legitimate use.
This theater is the subject of an urban legend that David Belasco's ghost haunts the theater every night. Some performers in the shows that played there have even claimed to have spotted him or other ghosts during performances. Source

Na década de 50 ficou consagrado como Teatro de Bolso Aurimar Rocha (o antigo proprietário, Aurimar Rocha, foi um importante diretor de teatro de revista da época). Grandes nomes da Revista, como Carlos Machado e Virgínia Lane, passaram por lá.
Em 1994, a Prefeitura do Rio comprou o teatro em leilão e o reformou. Hoje acolhe sobretudo novos autores e diretores e ainda espetáculos experimentais.

The Ethel Barrymore Theatre is a legitimate Broadway theatre located at 243 West 47th Street in midtown-Manhattan.
Designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp and constructed by the Shuberts, it opened on December 20, 1928 with The Kingdom of God, a play selected by leading lady Ethel Barrymore. Over the next dozen years she returned to star in The Love Duel (1929), Scarlett Sister Mary (1930), The School for Scandal (1931), and An International Incident (1940).
It is the only surviving theatre of the many the Shuberts built for performers who were affiliated with them. It has been used continuously as a legitimate house, unlike many of the older theatres that have been used for a variety of purposes throughout the years. Source

O Teatro Municipal João Caetano foi reinaugurado em 1995, após uma profunda restauração. O projeto de recuperação encarou um grande desafio que era respeitar os aspectos históricos e ao mesmo tempo dotá-lo de modernidade. Ao longo de sua história, o teatro sofreu sucessivas obras de reformas que foram alterando a forma original do prédio, adaptando espaços e desfigurando seus seus núcleos históricos, dando origem a um prédio com características de diferentes épocas. No entanto, a fachada manteve as linhas arquitetônicas neoclássicas da reforma de 1888 e 1889.

A decoração clean conta com um elevador de vidro e foi projetada para adaptar e facilitar o acesso a deficientes físicos. As 514 poltronas de espuma, diferente das anteriores de mola, têm assentos especiais não só para deficientes mas também para obesos. A mesa de luz e as roldanas da cortina, que estavam lá desde a inauguração do Ginástico em 1938, foram recuperadas e se tornaram instalação de arte na entrada do teatro". Ao lado do Circo Voador, uma antiga e desativada fundição de fogões e cofres estava sendo demolida. O ato de destruir um prédio tão lindo, antigo, inteiro e grande, era demais para os integrantes do Circo Voador, um grupo que valorizava a cultura brasileira de todas as épocas. The St. James Theatre is located at 246 W. 44th St. Broadway, New York City, New York. It was built by Abraham L. Erlanger, theatrical producer and a founding member of the Theatrical Syndicate, on the site of the original Sardi's restaurant. It opened in 1927 as The Erlanger. Upon Erlanger's death in 1930, control of the venue was taken over by the Astor family, who owned the land on which the theatre stood. The Astors renamed it the St. James Theatre.
The theatre was purchased by the Shuberts in the late 1930s. They were forced to sell it to the William L. McKnight in 1957 following the loss of an antitrust case. McKnight renovated the St. James and reopened it in 1958. In 1970, McKnight then transferred the theatre to his daughter Virginia and her husband James H. Binger, who had formed the Jujamcyn Amusement Corporation. Source

A legitimate Broadway theatre located at 302 West 45th Street in midtown-Manhattan. Designed by architect G. Albert Lansburgh for vaudeville promoter Martin Beck, the theatre opened as the Martin Beck Theatre with a production of Madame Pompadour on November 11, 1924. It was the only theater in New York that was owned outright without a mortgage. It was designed to be the most opulent theater of its time, and has dressing rooms for 200 actors. The theatre has a seating capacity of 1,292 for plays and 1,282 for musicals.

The Winter Garden Theatre is a Broadway theatre located at 1634 Broadway in midtown-Manhattan. Architect William Albert Swasey converted the former American Horse Exchange into a theatre for the Shuberts when they acquired the property. The fourth New York City venue to be christened the Winter Garden, it opened on March 10, 1911 with the early Jerome Kern musical La Belle Paree.
It was completely remodeled in 1922 by Herbert J. Krapp. The large stage is wider than those in most Broadway houses, and the proscenium arch is relatively low. The building is situated uniquely on its lot, with the main entrance and marquee, located on Broadway, connected to the 1530-seat Seventh Avenue auditorium via a long hallway, and the rear wall of the stage abutting 50th Street. A permanent home has long been a dream for the Roundabout Theatre Company. Since its establishment in 1965, Roundabout had moved from location to location, always searching for the next stop in what seemed to be a never-ending journey for permanency. From West 26th Street to West 23rd Street, from East 17th Street at Union Square then on to the Criterion Center, Roundabout seemed destined to live up to its name far too literally. All that changed in 1997, when The New 42nd Street Development project, backed by the City and State of New York, offered the historic Selwyn Theatre to Roundabout.

Nesses três anos de intensa atividade, o Circo Voador consolidou um raro pacto de credibilidade com o público carioca.
