Em 16 de junho de 1950, foi inaugurado o Estádio do Maracanã, no Rio de Janeiro, para que o Brasil pudesse sediar a Copa do Mundo, já que a Europa encontrava-se abalada pela Segunda Guerra Mundial. Com a mudança da Capital Federal para Brasília, em 1960 a cidade do Rio de Janeiro passou à qualidade de Estado da Guanabara e o Palácio Tiradentes passou a ser a sede da Assembléia Legislativa do Estado da Guanabara. Anteriormente entre 1926 a 1960, serviu à Câmara Federal. A Guanabara existiria entre 1960 e 1975, quando se fundiu ao Estado do Rio de Janeiro e o Palácio Tiradentes passou a abrigar a Assembléia Legislativa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. O painel decorativo do plenário do Palácio Tiradentes foi executado por Eliseu Visconti em 1926 e representa a assinatura da primeira Constituição Republicana de 1891. No grande painel, restaurado em 2001, figuram em tamanho natural os retratos dos sessenta e três constituintes

O Boulevard Olímpico é o maior live site da história dos Jogos Olímpicos. Localizado na Zona Portuária e no Parque de Madureira, se transformou na principal área de lazer dos cariocas e turistas fora dos locais de competição. No trecho da orla marítima entre a Gamboa e a Praça XV, que foi revitalizado pelo projeto Porto Maravilha, o público pode assistir às principais provas dos Jogos Olímpicas e Paraolímpicos em telões de alta definição, localizados em palcos com programação diária de shows, além de apresentações de artistas de rua e outras intervenções culturais. A principal atração no local, na Candelária, é a exposição da pira olímpica, que pela primeira vez nos Jogos teve a chama acesa e m área pública.

A Catedral de São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, ou como é mais conhecida Catedra Metropolitana, teve sua pedra fundamental abençoada e lançada por Dom Jaime de Barros Câmara, a 20 de janeiro de 1964. Em 1972, o Cardeal D. Eugenio de Araujo Sales, já pôde celebrar a Missa de Natal na nova Igreja. Aos 2 dias do mês de julho de 1980, Sua Santidade o Papa João Paulo II, em sua primeira visita ao Brasil, presidiu solene cerimônia com os bispos do CELAM, que comemorava Jubileu de Prata. E, no dia 4 de outubro de 1997, Sua Santidade presidiu solene Missa celebrada por mais de 500 bispos do mundo inteiro. A Catedra. tem 75 metros de altura externa e 64 metros de latura interna, 106 metros de diâmetro externo e 96 metros interno, com capacidade para abrigar 20.00 pessoas em pé ou 5.000 sentadas. A exemplo de todas as igrejas católicas, também a Catedral do Rio de Janeiro tem como símbo máximo a Cruz.

A Associação Brasileira de Gestão Cultural - ABGC, é uma entidade civil sem fins lucrativos, fundada em 2005, que atua na profissionalização e na formação de conhecimento acadêmico junto aos setores de Produção e Gestão Cultural e Social, mediante a realização de ações e projetos voltados à qualificação profissional e à inserção das profissões afins no mercado de trabalho, tendo como prerrogativa reunir pesquisadores, professores e profissionais das áreas da produção de bens culturais e do gerenciamento em cultura, nos âmbitos público e privado, propondo-se a realizar cursos de capacitação em formatos diversos - corporativos, de extensão e de pós-graduação, além de pesquisas e publicações.
Em 2001 foi implantado o primeiro curso de graduação em Produção Cultural do Rio de Janeiro e, em 2002, o primeiro curso de pós-graduação lato sensu – MBA em Gestão Cultural no país, que já está em sua sétima turma.
