Helio Oiticica (1937-1980) foi um dos mais criativos artistas plásticos brasileiros. A síntese de sua obra são seus belos "Parangolés" (1964): capas, estandartes ou bandeiras coloridas de algodão ou náilon com poemas em tinta sobre o tecido a serem vestidas ou carregadas pelo ator/espectador, que passa a perceber seu corpo transformado em dança. Quase uma poesia, pois a obra de arte só se revela quando alguém a manuseia, a movimenta.

As grandes cidades do mundo têm uma grande orquestra. Com o Rio de Janeiro não podia ser diferente. A Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira, com seus 63 anos de atividade ininterrupta é a marca do Brasil e da nossa cidade. Em 2008, uma nova sede de 87 mil m2 na Barra da Tijuca, uma antiga aspiração da Instituição, abrigará a OSB e receberá o nome de Cidade da Música Roberto Marinho, o mais ousado projeto em torno da música sendo construído no país. Realização da Prefeitura da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro, o projeto conta com a parceria da Fundação Roberto Marinho e é assinado pelo francês Christian de Portzamparc, autor da aclamada Cite de la Musique, de Paris. Roberto Minczuk, é o diretor artístico e regente titular da OSB e da Filarmônica de Calgary. Já regeu as Filarmônicas de Nova York, Los Angeles, Israel e Roterdam; as orquestras da Filadélfia, Nacional da França, National Simphony e Minnesota, Atlanta, Baltimore, Houston, entre outras. Na Europa regeu as Filarmônica de Londres, Hoslo, Hallé, Nacional de Lyon e Royal National Scottish.

Um belíssimo mirante que deixa o Rio de Janeiro aos seus pés. De lá, tem-se uma visão extraordinária do centro da cidade e de toda a orla do Rio – desde o Aeroporto Santos Dumont até a Urca. Logo abaixo estão os Arcos da Lapa. Aberto ao público, o Parque foi o que restou do Palacete Murtinho Nobre, onde morou Laurinda Santos Lobo. A casa foi um dos pontos mais efervescentes da vida cultural carioca durante muitos anos, até a morte da anfitriã, em 1946. A Prefeitura fez renascer das ruínas a cultura que ali existiu. O parque abriga uma sala de exposições, auditório e cafeteria, garantindo conforto a shows musicais, happy hours e leitura de textos literários. Nas áreas ao ar livre se destacam concorridos shows e uma programação especial para as crianças nos finais de semana. Com três andares, a casa chama atenção também por sua arquitetura e estilo - tijolos aparentes combinados harmoniosamente com estruturas metálicas e de vidro.

”O Monumento aos Mortos da Segunda Grande Guerra Mundial, também conhecido como Monumento aos Pracinhas, localiza-se no Aterro do Flamengo, no centro da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. O monumento foi inaugurado em 1960 para abrigar os restos mortais dos soldados brasileiros mortos na Segunda Guerra que, até então, estavam depositados no cemitério de Pistóia, na Itália. Como pode ser visto neste vídeo, o conjunto é integrado por três obras de arte: uma escultura de metal homenageando a Força Aérea Brasileira. Outra de granito, homenageando os soldados das três armas e um painel de azulejo em homenagem aos mortos no mar. Detalhe: a plataforma que se eleva a 31 metros de altura empregou, pela primeira vez no Brasil, o concreto aparente.”

Surrounded by the same stately trees for which it was named, The Oaks, in Portland, Oregon in 2005 will celebrate its 100th consecutive year of operation, making it one of the oldest continuously operating amusement parks in America. Built by the Oregon Water Power and Navigation Company, the park opened its gates on May 30, 1905 to Portlanders who arrived by foot and on horseback, in automobiles and by boat from the Willamette River. In keeping with the design of other "Trolley Parks" across the country, most of its visitors disembarked from trolley cars which ran along the Portland-to-Oregon City tracks forming the eastern boundary of the park.

O Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (CCBB) do Rio de Janeiro é um dos quatro CCBBs do país, que também existem nas capitais Brasília, São Paulo e Belo Horizonte. Os Centros são espaços multidisciplinares com programação regular (seis dias por semana), nas áreas de artes cênicas, cinema, exposição, ideias (palestras, debates, seminários etc), música e programa educativo. O CCBB oferece ao público uma programação cultural que é referência no Rio de Janeiro e no Brasil. Com projetos nas mais diversas áreas, o Centro tem um volume de freqüentadores comparável ao de outras grandes instituições culturais do mundo.
Nos vários campos da arte, a programação procura oferecer obras que vão do clássico ao experimental, do erudito ao popular, dos grandes mestres aos talentos iniciantes. Instalado no número 66 da Rua Primeiro de Março, o Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil é uma das jóias arquitetônicas da Cidade. Seus espaços, organizados e adornados com elementos neoclássicos, abrigam três teatros, sala de cinema, sala de vídeo, cinco salas de exposições, biblioteca com 140 mil títulos, museu e arquivo histórico, videoteca e salão para conferências e palestras. A Usina Hidrelétrica de Itaipu, a maior em operação no mundo, é um empreendimento binacional desenvolvido pelo Brasil e pelo Paraguai no Rio Paraná. A potência instalada da Usina é de 12.600 MW (megawatts), com 18 unidades geradoras de 700 MW cada. A produção recorde de 2000 - 93,4 bilhões de quilowatts-hora (KWh) - foi responsável pelo suprimento de 95% da energia elétrica consumida no Paraguai e 24% de toda a demanda do mercado brasileiro.

The center serves as an important resource for the 9/11 community and is dedicated to preserving the memory of the victims, the heroism of the first responders, and the resilience of the city of New York in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
