Rather than rushing to change things, they've grown thoughtfully over the years, opening five additional locations while keeping that same careful attention to what made the place special in the first place. Levain began as a small artisan bakery located in the heart of Manhattan's Upper West Side. First opened on December 16, 1995. Levain Bakery was founded by Connie McDonald and Pamela Weekes.
