A Igreja sempre se utilizou da arte como forma de anúncio da Palavra de Deus. Durante algum tempo, por exemplo, como boa parte do povo era analfabeta, usava-se a "Bíblia dos pobres", enorme e cheia de figuras, através das quais dava-se a evangelização. Assim, com o objetivo de reunir algumas obras de inspiração divina e promover uma síntese da presença da Igreja na história da arte no Brasil, idealizou-se o Museu Arquidiocesano de Arte Sacra, o MAAS. O museu reúne, em seu acervo, escultura, pintura, mobiliário, prataria, indumentária religiosa, medalhística, somando, ao todo, mais de 4.300 peças, nem todas, ainda, em exposição. Dentre as peças expostas, destacam-se a "Inspiração de São Pedro", pintada por Pedro Américo; uma cabeça de anjo esculpida por Mestre Valentim e que pertenceu à Igreja de São Pedro dos Clérigos, igreja esta, demolida para a construção da Av. Presidente Vargas; além de toda a prataria - objetos religiosos - que pertenceu à Catedral de Lisboa e que veio para o Brasil com D. João VI. Boa parte das peças do museu são provenientes do período Barroco, período este, caracterizado pelo excesso na ornamentação e pela exuberância das formas

Northlandz is a 16 acre world class attraction developed by Bruce and his wife Jean. Included in this complex is a doll museum, La Peep Doll House, a 2,000 pipe theater pipe organ (which Bruce plays) and art galleries throughout. The North Carolina Museum of Art's collection spans more than 5,000 years, from ancient Egypt to the present. The ancient collection includes Egyptian funerary art and important examples of sculpture and vase painting from the Greek and Roman worlds. The collection of European paintings and sculpture from the Renaissance through impressionism is internationally celebrated with important works by Giotto, Sandro Botticelli, Raphael, Anthony van Dyck, Peter Paul Rubens, Antonio Canova and Claude Monet. American art of the 18th and 19th centuries features paintings by John Singleton Copley, Thomas Cole, Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins and William Merritt Chase. Modern art includes major works by such American artists as Marsden Hartley, Georgia O'Keeffe, Franz Kline, Frank Stella, Jacob Lawrence, Elizabeth Murray and Joel Shapiro. Modern European masters include Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Delvaux, Henry Moore, Anselm Kiefer and Gerhard Richter. O Centro Cultural do Banco do Brasil (CCBB) do Rio de Janeiro é um dos quatro CCBBs do país, que também existem nas capitais Brasília, São Paulo e Belo Horizonte. Os Centros são espaços multidisciplinares com programação regular (seis dias por semana), nas áreas de artes cênicas, cinema, exposição, ideias (palestras, debates, seminários etc), música e programa educativo. O CCBB oferece ao público uma programação cultural que é referência no Rio de Janeiro e no Brasil. Com projetos nas mais diversas áreas, o Centro tem um volume de freqüentadores comparável ao de outras grandes instituições culturais do mundo.
Nos vários campos da arte, a programação procura oferecer obras que vão do clássico ao experimental, do erudito ao popular, dos grandes mestres aos talentos iniciantes. Esses critérios de seleção permitem ao CCBB alcançar freqüentadores com os mais abrangentes níveis de interesse. Instalado no número 66 da Rua Primeiro de Março, o Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil é uma das jóias arquitetônicas da Cidade. Seus espaços, organizados e adornados com elementos neoclássicos, abrigam três teatros, sala de cinema, sala de vídeo, cinco salas de exposições, biblioteca com 140 mil títulos, museu e arquivo histórico, videoteca e salão para conferências e palestras. O freqüentador dispõe ainda de restaurante, casa de chá, bombonière e loja de produtos culturais.

O acervo do Museu Nacional de Belas Artes teve origem no conjunto de obras de arte trazido por D. João VI de Portugal, em 1808, ampliado alguns anos mais tarde com a coleção reunida por Joachin Lebreton, que chefiou a chamada Missão Artística Francesa, formando a mais importante pinacoteca do país.

Formado inicialmente ao longo dos anos 40 e 50 por inúmeras doações de artistas, empresários e algumas instituições oficiais, o acervo do Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro constituiu-se uma das coleções de arte do século XX mais importantes no país. Apresentando um panorama completo e sofisticado da evolução artística de nosso século, dentro e fora do Brasil.

Projetado pelo arquiteto Oscar Niemeyer, o Museu, construído no Mirante da Boa Viagem, local privilegiado que se debruça sobre as águas da Baía de Guanabara e leva o olhar do visitante até o outro lado, onde estão o Corcovado e o Pão de Açúcar. Niemeyer afirmava que ao visitar o local "imaginou o museu como qualquer coisa solta na paisagem, um pássaro branco a se lançar sobre o céu e o mar de Niterói"; o que quer dizer um supremo respeito à paisagem. Construída por volta de 1860, pelo médico José Martins Rocha, a casa é vendida ao Industrial Português José Francisco Correia - Visconde de Sande e depois Conde de Agrolongo (Títulos recebidos em Portugal).
Em 1903, o Conde retira-se para Portugal e põe a residência a leilão com todos os seus pertences, não aparecendo comprador. Pela mesma época a Capital era transferida de Petrópolis para Niterói e o Governador Nilo Peçanha resolveu adquirir o palacete para sede do governo, consumando-se a venda em 1904. Durante os 71 anos seguintes, teve o Palácio, 43 ocupantes entre governadores interinos e interventores federais.

O ano de 2006 celebra o cinquentenário do governo daquele que foi considerado "O Brasileiro do Século", o presidente Juscelino Kubitschek. No dia 31 de maio, no Salão Nobre do Palácio do Catete, personalidades e instituições foram homenageadas com a condecoração Cruz do Mérito Empreendedor Juscelino Kubitschek pelo Centro de Integração Cultural e Empresarial de São Paulo, inclusive o Museu da República, junto a Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Fernanda Montenegro, Silvio Santos e outros.

“A Casa do Pontal é o maior e mais significativo museu de arte popular do país. O acervo é composto por 8.000 esculturas e modelagens feitas contemporaneamente por cerca de 200 artistas populares de todas as regiões brasileiras e recobre a produção feita em toda segunda metade do século XX. Segundo o International Council of Museums (ICOM), filiado à Unesco, a Casa do Pontal não é apenas um museu completo de Arte Popular Brasileira, mas um verdadeiro museu antropológico, único no país a permitir uma visão abrangente da vida e da cultura do homem brasileiro.” Aberto ao público de terça a domingo, das 9h30 às 17h. Durante os 15 anos do primeiro governo de Getúlio Vargas, o Rio de Janeiro passou por profundas reformas urbanas e arquitetônicas. Entre 1920 e 1940, a cidade ganhou mais 600 mil habitantes. No campo da arquitetura, foram construídos novos prédios para os Ministérios da Guerra, da Fazenda e Educação e Saúde. A antiga sede do Ministério da Fazenda no Rio de Janeiro funcionava em um velho casarão, quase em ruínas, localizado na Av. Passos. Em julho de 1934 foi autorizada a construção de um edifício-sede, centralizando todas as repartições do Ministério da Fazenda e Tribunal de Contas, na antiga capital brasileira. O local escolhido foi a Esplanadado Castelo. O lançamento da pedra fundamental ocorreu em 3 de outubro de 1938, data escolhida em comemoração ao 8º aniversário da Revolução de1930. O ato foi presidido pelo então presidente da República Getúlio Vargas. Em novembro de 1943 foi inaugurada a nova sede do Ministério da Fazenda de estilo neo-clássico.

OMuseu do Marajó nasceu de modo informal em 1972, na cidade de Santa Cruz do Arari. Em 1984, foi instalado no prédio de antiga indústria de extração de óleo vegetal em Cachoeira do Arari, onde permanece até hoje. No dia 16 de dezembro de 1981 foi fundada a Associação com o nome de O Nosso Museu de Santa Cruz do Arari.
No dia 14 de julho de 1983, na Assembléia Geral dos sócios, foi mudada a razão social, sendo escolhida a nova denominação de O MUSEU DO MARAJÓ.

The DOCKYARD MUSEUM in the Naval Officer's House interprets the story of English Harbour and of the people that toiled in this famous Georgian Royal Naval Yard. It also explains the 20th century return of sailing ships and the aims and aspirations of Nelson's Dockyard National Park. There is also a small "Nelson's Room" with a life sized portrait of Nelson researched through archaeological means.
