”O Monumento aos Mortos da Segunda Grande Guerra Mundial, também conhecido como Monumento aos Pracinhas, localiza-se no Aterro do Flamengo, no centro da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. O monumento foi inaugurado em 1960 para abrigar os restos mortais dos soldados brasileiros mortos na Segunda Guerra que, até então, estavam depositados no cemitério de Pistóia, na Itália. Como pode ser visto neste vídeo, o conjunto é integrado por três obras de arte: uma escultura de metal homenageando a Força Aérea Brasileira. Outra de granito, homenageando os soldados das três armas e um painel de azulejo em homenagem aos mortos no mar. Detalhe: a plataforma que se eleva a 31 metros de altura empregou, pela primeira vez no Brasil, o concreto aparente.”

The Landing hosts more than 350 events each year including Florida/Georgia Weekend Celebrations, the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, New Year’s Eve and Gator Bowl Celebrations, St. Patrick's Day and July 4th. Weekly events include live weekend entertainment in the center courtyard offering a variety of music including classic rock, oldies, contemporary, jazz, and top 40. The Landing also hosts a myriad of events for the community such as charity walks and runs and the Earth Day Ecology Fair. Actor Ronald Reagan co-starred with a chimp in Bedtime for Bonzo, and red-baiting Sen. Joe McCarthy co-starred with a similar crew, in the infamous House Un-American Activities Commitee.

A Casa da Moeda do Brasil, fundada em 1694, é uma empresa pública, vinculada ao Ministério da Fazenda.
Após alguns anos de atividade no nordeste do Brasil e em Minas Gerais, a CMB foi transferida para o Rio de Janeiro, então capital da República, operando em amplo e adequado prédio construído na Praça da República, inaugurado em 1868 e, hoje, pertencente ao Arquivo Nacional.
O crescimento da economia brasileira durante os anos subseqüentes veio requerer a expansão da capacidade de produção da empresa. Um novo complexo industrial, que hoje representa um dos maiores do gênero no mundo, foi especificamente projetado, construído e inaugurado em 1984, no Distrito Industrial de Santa Cruz, Zona Oeste do Rio de Janeiro.

Fundada em 1894, a Confeitaria Colombo faz parte do patrimônio cultural e artístico da cidade e é o ponto de referência do turismo da cidade. Com um pedaço do passado que visita o presente, a Confeitaria Colombo é o exemplo típico da arquitetura art nouveau e d belle époque carioca. O Centro de Artes Calouste Gulbenkian foi criado em 11 de março de 1971 e recebeu este nome em homenagem à instituição cultural portuguesa sediada em Lisboa, a Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. A origem do Centro Calouste Gulbenkian, que está instalado na Praça Onze, está ligada à necessidade de formar professores de artesanato para atender às escolas públicas do Estado do Rio. Os cursos de Artes oferecidos no Centro de Artes Calouste Gulbenkian traduzem uma proposta artístico-educacional diversificada e plural, dentro de uma prática atualizada e dinâmica, onde múltiplas linguagens artísticas se integram - do artesanato à pesquisa com novos matérias. Esses cursos são direcionados a quem busca a iniciação ou o aperfeiçoamento através da arte, tanto como linguagem expressiva como para a criação de objetos utilitários. Através de aulas práticas em salas-oficinas, adequadas a cada uma das modalidades artísticas, os professores procuram dar atendimento individualizado, buscando atender os diferentes objetivos de cada aluno.

O Instituto Casa de Cultura Rio (ICCRIO) foi fundado em 1988, sendo a escola pioneira do Método Suzuki de ensino musical no Rio de Janeiro. Ao longo destes anos, Suray Soren, diretora artística do Instituto, vem ensinando violino a crianças e adolescentes por este revolucionário método japonês. O ICCRIO oferece cursos de violino, cello, piano, baby class, musicalização, prática de orquestra e também mantém o projeto social "Com a Corda Toda",que beneficia hoje crianças e adolescentes de várias comunidades situadas no Rio e Grande Rio.

Localizado na ponta do Gragoatá, com ampla visão da entrada da Baía de Guanabara, o Forte do Gragoatá foi construído entre os séculos XVII e XVIII, com o nome de Forte de São Domingos, em homenagem ao patrono da capela construída em 1652, hoje matriz de São Domingos.

Diverções aquáticas.

A Cidade das Artes é um complexo cultural localizado na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. O prédio escultural erguido a dez metros do chão, no coração da Barra da Tijuca, projeto do arquiteto francês Christian de Portzamparc, abriga um dos mais importantes e completos espaços para a representação das artes. Aqui, música, teatro, cinema, dança, artes plásticas, e outras manifestações artísticas brasileiras e de todos os povos, têm acolhida de excelência que transformou o lugar em um grande centro de valorização da cultura, com solo fértil para a formação de plateia. A ideia de converter em Cidade das Artes o projeto original surgiu de uma conversa entre o Prefeito Eduardo Paes e o presidente da Fundação Cidade das Artes e ex-Secretário Municipal de Cultura, Emílio Kalil. Inaugurado parcialmente no final da administração anterior, o complexo de salas de espetáculos ganhou vida nova com a decisão de ampliar e modernizar seu campo de atuação para atender a todas as classes artísticas e sociais da cidade, e não apenas a área da música.

Fundada em 1978 pelo Maestro Florentino Dias, a Orquestra Filarmônica do Rio de Janeiro é reconhecida como de utilidade pública, sem fins lucrativos, e está cadastrada no Ministério da Cultura, o que permite aos seus patrocinadores e doadores beneficiarem-se com deduções no Imposto de Renda através da Lei Rouanet, além do retorno institucional ao afinarem-se com a harmonia e o belo.
Desde sua criação vem realizando várias séries de concertos, como: concertos "Classe A", no Teatro Municipal, Sala Cecília Meireles, Golden Room, Garden Hall e outros locais. Como foi criada nos moldes das grandes orquestras européias e norte-americanas, não tem vínculo com o Governo. Sua administração compõe-se de uma Diretoria, uma quadro de Patronesses e Patronos, e um Conselho Deliberativo do qual fazem parte pessoas da mais alta expressão cultural da nossa sociedade, e compõe-se de 70 músicos profissionais.
