A Academia Brasileira de Cinema foi fundada em 20 de maio de 2002, e tem como objetivo promover, preservar e divulgar o cinema brasileiro, além de ser um espaço de convivência e troca de experiências entre profissionais da área.
A criação de um prêmio para celebrar a produção anual de filmes marcou o início de um projeto que aproximou mais de 300 sócios, entre realizadores, distribuidores, produtores, exibidores, técnicos, atores e outros profissionais do cinema e audiovisual.

Em 1977, junto a Feira de Livros que acontecia no Campo de São Bento, uma vasta área verde dentro da cidade, alguns artesãos e um artista plástico começaram a expor os seus trabalhos e obras de artes.
Com a transferência de outro grupo (artesãos e artistas plásticos) que faziam parte de uma feira, coordenada por órgão da prefeitura (entre 1983/1987, no centro da cidade), para essa área, começavam as atividades da Feira de Artesanatos do Campo de São Bento. Passando por tantas mudanças, hoje ela comporta, entre artesãos e artistas plásticos, 307 barracas e painéis. Com a criação da área de alimentação, foram acrescidas mais 40 barracas.

Para visitar o parque, existem três opções: o Roteiro das Águas, o Roteiro da Mata e o Roteiro do Sol. Logo na entrada, uma sala multimídia orienta os visitantes sobre as atrações do local. O Parque está localizado na Serra do Curral e é considerado a maior área verde da capital. Além de ser ponto de encontro de milhares de pessoas é palco de atividades culturais e habitat de várias espécies vegetais e animais. Seu projeto paisagístico foi elaborado por Roberto Burle Marx. O gerenciamento fica por conta da Prefeitura Municipal de Belo Horizonte através da Secretaria Municipal de Meio Ambiente e Saneamento Urbano. O parque é um dos poucos remanescentes de mata da região metropolitana de Belo Horizonte e serve de abrigo a um número razoável de animais. Ocorrem 13 espécies de mamíferos na área, como o mico estrela, escolhido como mamífero símbolo de Belo Horizonte, gambás, esquilos, quatis. Há ainda 158 tipos de aves, 12 de répteis e 16 de anfíbios. A vegetação do parque reúne espécies que variam entre o campo de altitude, como as gramíneas, canelas de ema e algumas espécies de orquídeas; cerrado, como o pau-santo, barbatimão, candeia, caviuna e a mangaba; e matas de galeria, como o jacarandá, vinhático, jequitibá, e a quaresmeira, eleita árvore símbolo de Belo Horizonte. Indicado para quem quer começar o estudo da música ou pretende aprimorar os conhecimentos adquiridos em vivências musicais anteriores, o Curso de Formação Inicial e Continuada não exige para ingresso nenhum conhecimento musical prévio. É realizado em regime de curso livre e promovido em convênio com a Associação de Músicos, Docentes e Amigos da Escola de Música Villa-Lobos AmaVilla. Aberto a jovens de 13 a 18 anos, nos turnos manhã e tarde e para adultos a partir de 19 anos, no turno da noite.
