Based on The Suit by Can Themba, Mothobi Mutloatse, and Barney Simon Direction, adaptation, and music by Peter Brook, Marie-Hélène Estienne, and Franck Krawczyk The renowned Peter Brook—whose 1987 production of The Mahabharata inaugurated the BAM Majestic Theater (now the BAM Harvey Theater)—returns with a music-filled adaptation of South African writer Can Themba’s piercing tale of simmering resentment and tragedy, The Suit. A wife caught in the act, her lover fleeing the scene, a suit left behind. It’s the perfect recipe for a husband’s punishing, humiliating decree: go on with business as usual, he says to his spouse, but take your lover’s suit everywhere you go as a ghostly reminder of your betrayal. Using an innovative staging that integrates live musicians directly into the action, Brook makes Themba’s volatile work sing. A hummed “Strange Fruit,” African melodies, and Schubert lieder thicken the tense, poisoned air of this apartheid-era summer in which a shared wound was not allowed to heal.
Dating from its first performance in 1861, BAM has grown into a thriving urban arts center that brings international performing arts and film to Brooklyn. The first BAM facility at 176-194 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights was originally conceived by the Philharmonic Society of Brooklyn as a home for its concerts. It housed a large theater seating 2,200, a smaller concert hall, dressing and chorus rooms, and a vast "baronial" kitchen. BAM presented both amateur and professional music and theater productions. Performers included Ellen Terry, Edwin Booth, Tomas Salvini, and Fritz Kreisler.

The Tribute World Trade Center (WTC) Visitor Center is a project of the September 11th Families' Association, a non-profit organization that provides support and resources for victims of terrorism. The center is located at the World Trade Center site in New York City and serves as a gathering place for the entire 9/11 community, including families, survivors, residents, rescue workers, and volunteers affected by the events of September 11, 2001.
The Tribute WTC Visitor Center's mission is to provide a central location for information and resources related to 9/11 at the World Trade Center site. Visitors can learn about the events of September 11th, the identity of the 2,973 people killed in the attacks, the unprecedented rescue and recovery operations, and the spirit of support and generosity that arose in the aftermath of the attacks. Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói tinha sido concluído ainda há poucos meses, quando o então prefeito da cidade, Jorge Roberto Silveira, convidou o arquiteto Oscar Niemeyer para uma nova empreitada. Pensando em revitalizar a zona central de Niterói, Jorge Roberto decidiu construir num terreno de 72.000 m² à beira mar, um complexo arquitetônico, voltado para a cultura e a religião da população. Certo de que seria um importante intervenção urbanística, o prefeito convidou Niemeyer para criar as edificações que, juntas com o MAC, formariam um caminho ao longo da orla, o Caminho Niemeyer. A imponente e conceituada Sala Cecília Meireles, uma edificação do século XIX, está localizada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, no Largo da Lapa. Tradicional casa de concertos de música de câmara no cenário cultural da cidade, assim denominada em homenagem à poetisa, pianista Cecília Meireles. O prédio, originalmente erguido para funcionar como hotel (Grande Hotel da Lapa) recebeu empresários e políticos da República Velha. Posteriormente, em 1948 foi reformado e transformado em sala de cinema (Cine Colonial). Desde o início da década de 70, vem recebendo atenções especiais das autoridades do estado do Rio de Janeiro com o apoio de instituições privadas objetivando manter um espaço cultural permanente para difusão de música erudita, em particular a música de câmara. Localizado na ponta do Gragoatá, com ampla visão da entrada da Baía de Guanabara, o Forte do Gragoatá foi construído entre os séculos XVII e XVIII, com o nome de Forte de São Domingos, em homenagem ao patrono da capela construída em 1652, hoje matriz de São Domingos.

O Sítio do famoso paisagista abriga cerca de 3500 espécimes de plantas originárias de florestas brasileiras e de outros países, numa área de 360.000 metros quadrados. A coleção é considerada uma das mais importantes do mundo no que se refere a plantas tropicais e semi-tropicais, possuindo o título de patrimônio cultural brasileiro desde 1985. Cursos e encontros são regularmente promovidos e estudantes universitários são orientados por professores de Biologia/Botânica. Fazem parte do Conselho Consultivo do Sítio muitos dos melhores botânicos e paisagistas brasileiros que ajudam a instituição com os seus conhecimentos. O Sítio não é aberto ao público para passeios livres. É obrigatória a prévia marcação da visita que se realiza orientada por monitores.

Tudo começou em 1945, quando os caminhões pau-de-arara, vindos de vários estados do Nordeste, chegavam ao Campo de São Cristóvão trazendo retirantes nordestinos para trabalhar na construção civil, onde já tinham vaga garantida.
O encontro dos recém-chegados com parentes e outros conterrâneos era animado com música e comida nordestinas, dando origem à Feira de São Cristóvão. Durante 58 anos, a tradicional Feira permaneceu no Campo de São Cristóvão, debaixo das árvores. Em 2003, as barracas foram transferidas para dentro do antigo Pavilhão, que foi reformado pela Prefeitura do Rio e transformado no Centro Municipal Luiz Gonzaga de Tradições Nordestinas. Hoje, a Feira de São Cristóvão tem boa infra-estrutura de limpeza e segurança, com banheiros públicos e estacionamento. São cerca de 700 barracas fixas, que oferecem as várias modalidades da cultura nordestina: culinária, artesanato, trios e bandas de forró, dança, cantores e poetas populares, repente e literatura de cordel.

Um dos mais bonitos prédios do Rio de Janeiro, localizado na Praça Floriano, conhecida como Cinelândia, no centro da cidade, o Theatro Municipal é a principal casa de espetáculos do Brasil e uma das mais importantes da América do Sul. Desde a sua inauguração, em 14 de julho de 1909, o Theatro tem recebido os maiores artistas internacionais, assim como os principais nomes da dança, música e da ópera brasileiras.

O Parque Guinle é um parque público localizado numa área arborizada de cerca de 30 mil metros quadrados no entorno do Palácio Laranjeiras, residência do governador do Rio de Janeiro. O Parque foi no originalmente construído como jardins do palacete da família Guinle erguido na década de 20. A partir de 1940, o Parque Guinle passou a pertencer ao Governo Federal e foi objeto de um projeto de urbanização com a construção de um conjunto de edifícios residenciais projetados pelo arquiteto Lucio Costa, concebidos conforme os princípios propostos pelo arquiteto francês Le Corbusier, que serviram de ensaio para o padrão residencial das superquadras da capital do país, Brasília.

Em estilo eclético, fortemente influenciado pelos estilos clássicos franceses Luís XV e XVI, o Palácio das Laranjeiras, também conhecido como Palácio Guanabara, é um dos maiores patrimônios arquitetônicos do povo do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. Reformado, tornou-se a residência da Princesa Isabel e seu esposo, o Conde d'Eu, sendo conhecido a partir de então como Palácio Isabel. Entre 1912 e 1947 foi residência da família do Dr. Eduardo Guinle.. O palácio foi utilizado pelo presidente Getúlio Vargas como residência oficial durante o Estado Novo (1937-1945). Em 1956, passa a ser residência oficial dos Presidentes da República. Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira é o primeiro Presidente a residir no Laranjeiras. Em 1974, com a fusão dos antigos estados da Guanabara e do Rio de Janeiro, promovida pelo então Presidente Ernesto Geisel, o Palácio é cedido ao novo Estado do Rio de Janeiro para servir de residência oficial de seus Governadores

O local se caracteriza em parte por mata fechada e em parte por tratamento paisagístico com magníficos jardins. Em 1939 a família Guinle repassou o imóvel ao governo do Distrito Federal, que então determinou sua conversão em parque público.
Ideal para a criançada correr à vontade em locais gramados, em pisos planos e outros levemente íngreme. Um bonito lago foi formado através do trajeto de um sinuoso córrego represado. Muito bom também para namorar. Excelente para piqueniques e propício para reflexões e relaxamento dos adultos.

Com uma área de 138 mil metros quadrados, mais de 2.100 animais entre répteis, mamíferos e aves e cerca de 400 espécies, o zoológico do Rio é o mais antigo do Brasil. Possui o maior plantel de primatas brasileiros, a maior coleção de aves expostas do país e, no setor de fauna, reproduzem-se espécies raras e ameaçadas de extinção como o urubu rei, a ararajuba e o mico leão dourado.
