"This monument is not only a memorial to the nation's 32nd president, but also a remembrance of the people of his time. The monument stretches along the Tidal Basin with four outdoor gallery rooms, connected by granite passageways. Each room exhibits aspects of Franklin D. Roosevelt's terms in office. The second room, for example, depicts the Great Depression with statues waiting in a bread line and of a man listening to a fireside chat. Another room contains a statue of Eleanor Roosevelt, the only memorial to honor a First Lady. The monument is glorified by waterfalls and pools."

In 1884, a wealthy widow named Sarah L. Winchester began a construction project of such magnitude that it was to occupy the lives of carpenters and craftsmen until her death thirty-eight years later. The Victorian mansion, designed and built by the Winchester Rifle heiress, is filled with so many unexplained oddities, that it has come to be known as the Winchester Mystery House.

O Parque Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes, conhecido como Aterro do Flamengo, possui 1.200.000m² de área verde à beira-mar,com arbustos floridos, uma profusão de árvores, compondo uma das mais visitadas e belas áreas de lazer da cidade. A idealização do parque foi de Lota Macedo Soares, de família da elite carioca. Não fez universidade mas foi aluna de Cândido Portinari e tornou-se uma esteta com conhecimento de arquitetura e urbanismo. Lota era também conhecida por sua curiosidade e conhecimento de plantas.
Lota teve a idéia de iluminar o aterro à noite para permitir passeios noturnos no parque. As quadras de esporte foram idéia sua, que são alugadas todos os dias do ano, inclusive de madrugada, quando ficam tomadas por times de várias associações. Com o aval do governador, de então, Carlos Lacerda, reuniu um grupo de amigos notáveis para materializar o projeto: o paisagista Roberto Burle Marx, o botânico Luiz Emygdio de Mello Filho e os arquitetos Affonso Eduardo Reidy, Sérgio Bernardes e Jorge Moreira.

The Aquarium of Niagara is one of only 17 institutions in North America to house a colony of the endangered Peruvian penguin. Two daily penguin feedings provide visitors an opportunity to "Meet the Keeper" and learn about these fascinating aquatic birds!
The schedule includes exciting shark feedings (on alternate days), and scheduled sessions with the California sea lions in the 100,000 gallon central pool. The L.I.C. Community Boathouse is a boathouse located in Long Island City, New York. The boathouse provides access to the East River for the local community through various programs such as kayaking, rowing and sailing. The boathouse is a volunteer-run organization that aims to promote the use of the waterfront for recreational, educational and environmental purposes. The boathouse offers a variety of programs for people of all ages and skill levels. The adult rowing program is a popular option for those looking to get in shape and learn a new skill. The youth rowing program is also offered to young people, providing a great opportunity to learn teamwork and discipline. Kayaking programs are also available for both adults and youth, as well as sailing programs.
In addition to these programs, the boathouse also offers waterfront access to the community through its kayak and rowboat lending program, which allows individuals to borrow boats for free during the boating season. The boathouse also provides space for community events such as parties, picnics, and other gatherings.
The boathouse is located on the East River in Long Island City, next to the Socrates Sculpture Park and the Queensbridge Park. The boathouse is easily accessible by public transportation, with the F train subway line stopping at the 21st St-Queensbridge stop, which is a short walk from the boathouse.
The L.I.C. Community Boathouse is a great place for the community to enjoy the waterfront and learn new skills, while also promoting the use of the waterfront for recreational, educational and environmental purposes.

No dia 29 de novembro de 1873, o extinto jornal "Dezenove de Dezembro" publicava a seguinte matéria: "Convido os habitantes desta cidade, de todas as nacionalidades para uma reunião que deve ter lugar amanhã na casa da Câmara municipal, ás 16 horas, a fim de tratar de fundar um Clube de corridas de cavalos".
O chamado era feito pelo hipólogo brasileiro Luiz Jácome de Abreu e Souza, destacado pela imprensa na época como "A Alma do Turfe Paranaense". Esse gaúcho, fácil fazedor de amigos e grande domador de cavalos era sempre pronto a mostrar suas perícias em praça pública, permaneceu na Província 73 dias com a finalidade de organizar o Club de Corridas Paranaense, desejo que acabou sendo consolidado.

The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is located in Flushing, in the New York City borough of Queens and has been the home of the US Open Grand Slam tennis tournament played every year in August and September. According to the United States Tennis Association, the center is the largest public tennis facility in the world with 22 courts inside the facility and 11 more in the adjoining park. Localizado no Flamengo, o Arte Sesc se estabeleceu em uma construção de 1912, com arquitetura eclética, antiga moradia de Frederico Figner, empresário que trouxe para o Brasil os primeiros equipamentos de som e luz, como fonógrafos, gramofones e kinetoscópios. Figner também fundou a primeira gravadora musical no Brasil, a Odeon, contribuindo para difundir a música brasileira na Europa.
O Arte Sesc abriga em suas cinco salas mostras de artes plásticas e está aberto ao público com uma programação que prestigia eventos já reconhecidos, além dos de cunho experimental, incentivando o surgimento de novos valores artísticos, circulação de novas idéias e tendências
    Associação Brasileira de Imprensa - ABI, South America

Construído em três anos, de 1936 a 1939, o prédio da ABI, destaca-se inclusive por ter sido nele utilizada pela primeira vez a solução apresentada pelo legendário Le Corbusier para o problema do excesso de luz - o “brise-soleil”, quebra-sol através de persianas de concreto na fachada.
O edifício-sede da ABI foi tombado pelo Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico Estadual em 1965. Sua principal característica é a unidade, que dá a tônica do conjunto, tanto nas soluções plásticas quanto nas estruturais.
A história da fundação da ABI se confunde com a de seu perseverante idealizador Gustavo de Lacerda. Criada em 7 de abril de 1908, seu principal objetivo era assegurar à classe jornalística os direitos assistenciais e tornar-se um centro poderoso de ação. Segundo o próprio Lacerda, a Associação deveria ser um campo neutro em que se pudessem abrigar todos os trabalhadores da imprensa.

A Floresta da Tijuca foi reflorestada no século XIX após anos de desmatamento intenso e plantio, principalmente de café. O reflorestamento foi uma iniciativa pioneira em toda a América Latina.
A Floresta da Tijuca possui recantos e atrativos históricos que merecem ser visitados, como: a Cascatinha, a Capela Mayrink, o Mirante Excelsior, o Barracão, a Gruta Paulo e Virgínia, o Lago das Fadas, a Vista Chinesa e o Açude da Solidão, pontos freqüentados por famílias inteiras nos fins de semana.
